Last week, Video Culture here in Murfreesboro hosted a first annual silent film fest at 3 Brothers Deli to celebrate its' 15th year in business. Public domain silent movies were shown- originals of Alice in Wonderland, Wizard of Oz, Frankenstein, and Nosferatu. Since each were of original format and with no sound, local DJs wrote scores to each of the film, most of which were trance and club, techno, house, etc. Alice in Wonderland (1903) was my favorite by far & following closely behind was Frankenstein, each produced but Thomas Edison's company. Sounds crazy, but everything went so amazingly that they it is thought that another fest might happen soon or next year. I thoroughly enjoyed this and I am so happy there are many creative people in the Nashville area.
