lists

i would just like to announce to the world that i compulsively make lists. not too many people know this about me, not even my best friends i don't think. actually, i don't think anyone knows that about me except for josh anderson because we used to make lists when i visited him in corlew at odd hours. (nothing else to do?) i think our favorite was top five favorite hit men, favorite tv character (im pretty sure we both wrote down george costanza even though im not sure if it is mine. i just wrote it because i knew josh would either write that or jerry seinfeld.) or maybe just top five favorite adam sandler movies because i won. i actually put down five. josh only wrote two, one of which he had never seen and the other one he didn't like.

today, i will write my favorite smells:

1. burning firewood, any time of the year. that smell reminds me of bearable warmth and comfort, perhaps good company as well.
2. libraries. i used to go to the public library just to walk around and smell different books. i'm not kidding.
3. sprinklers in the summer time, like tap water coming through a water hose or hitting you in the face when its hot outside.
4. hotels. i love fresh, clean 100% cotton bed sheets and pillow cases. i also love that zooey deschanel is in that cute cotton commercial. its so refreshing to watch it.
5. my house in memphis. its indescribable and can't be explained. it will always be familiar.
6. the fair. mainly fair foods, they are really bad for your health but they smell so good. and even though i think i grew up around one of the nastiest fairs (the midsouth fair), i believe that i will continue to admire the aroma of turkey legs, funnel cakes, and fried candy bars.
