Soyen Shaku

I've been getting really into his books and teachings.
I bought "Zen for Americans" the other day.
At first, i honestly thought it was going to be dumb and just prove how stupid Americans can really be sometimes, but after reading about half of it, it doesn't show that at all. It is a collection of Soyen Shaku's lectures during the late 19th century and the early 20th century when he came to America to teach, becoming the first Zen Buddhist master to teach in America.
It approaches Buddhism from an outside-in and inside-out perspective; it shows the differences as well as similarities to other religions, even Christianity. It has been pretty enlightening so far and I have enjoyed it.
